Position Summary
The Enhanced Digital Learning Initiative at Michigan State University invites applications for an Associate Director of Assessment and Evaluation. This is a 12-month, continuing system position. The Associate Director will assist academic technology leaders in achieving strategic goals in regard to online teaching, learning, research and technology. The role will focus on three main areas: pedagogy, formative and summative assessment, and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
Consult with faculty members regarding online instruction, assessment, classroom (virtual and face-to-face) best practices, and pedagogical best practices,
Consult with faculty members to design, develop, and evaluate assessment instruments and strategies for online and hybrid courses,
Lead training sessions, workshops, and seminars related to teaching and learning with technology and assessment, and
Collaborate with faculty, staff, student employees, learning designers, platform providers, and colleagues on matters related to online assessment and instructional design.

Minimum Requirements
The demands of this job require that the applicant have a combination of skills surrounding assessment methods, instructional design, and evaluation. The applicant should have facility interacting with both students and faculty members and should be able to advance equity while working with diverse populations and understand dynamics of instruction at the university level. It is required that the applicant:
Hold a master’s degree in instructional design, program evaluation, education, higher education, or other graduate degree related to the job responsibilities,
Can demonstrate at least two years' experience collaborating with instructors on instructional design, assessment, scholarship of teaching and learning, online programming, evaluation and/or STEM, Business, or Humanities education,
Are fluent in current and emerging issues in teaching, learning, educational technology, and assessment, including issues of bias and equity,
Have experience in training or mentorship, and
Are an excellent communicator.
Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the expertise, dedication, and passion to elevate the university's instructional environment and improve the student experience. The following skills and competencies are especially desirable:
Completion of a PhD or EdD
Experience in developing assessments of student learning.
Experience in evaluating course and program effectiveness.
Experience in evaluating instructional technologies and/or pedagogical practices.
Experience in qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis.
Productivity in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Productivity in discipline-based education research.
