Textile Designer Jobs description

A textile designer creates two-dimensional designs that can be produced in a design. Such designs can be repeated for commercial or artistic use. They often work in knit, weave, and print.
The designs conceptualised by textile designers may be used in the production of fabrics or textile products. They may specialize in soft furnishings or fashion fabrics, sometimes working in both areas. Textile designers may also work in related fields, especially those where a design repeat is part of the process of production, for example wrapping paper, packaging, greetings cards, ceramics, or floor or wall coverings.
Textile Designers should be innovative and resourceful. They must follow strict budget and deadline schedules and maintain up-to-date knowledge of fashion trends with relation to fabrics. They must also be proactive learners and should be willing to experiment with a wide variety of fabrics. Such qualities, when inherent, help textile designers mix two or more fabrics and create a totally new fabric. Big fashion houses often employ textile designers to spend a great deal of time researching and experimenting with raw materials. Since fashion designers are required to innovate with every coming season, they often bank on the textile designers to offer them innovative fabrics to work upon.
