Profile

Demand Media is seeking a Freelance Designer. You must be creative, efficient and have experience conceptualizing and executing infographics. We are looking for a strong, passionate individual, who will thrive in a supportive, collaborative, yet fast-paced interactive environment for both internal and external teams and clients.   
 Qualifications:
Proven experience working at an advertising agency, top brand or publisher.
Ability to:

Create and implement clean, contemporary infographics.
Maintain branding through research, documentation in every design effort.
Design infographics, icons, social promotions and other interactive visual content and collateral. 
Collaborate with editors, photo editors, designers, product managers, researchers and account teams.
Conceptualize broad concepts and offer strategic, smart and elegant solutions.
Present your design decisions and work.
Support Creative Director in managing other freelance designers including correspondence, art direction, critical feedback and paperwork.
Give and solicit feedback as part of the design process to other freelancers and the larger in-house team.

 
Requirements:

BA or BFA in Graphic Design or professional equivalent
2-5 years designing with deep knowledge of web, mobile and social design standards
Portfolio featuring infographics, iconography and creative branding work
A strong sense and passion for design and data visualization
Expert in brand direction and communication design
Experience designing across a variety of media
Expert Adobe skills including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
Pixel-perfect attention to detail
Understand design within social and editorial context for both editorial and commercial clients.
Ability to work on deadline within constraints, while maintaining consistency throughout designs
Comfortable working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
Work location is on-site in Santa Monica.
