The College of Arts & Sciences is accepting applications for the position of Senior Instructional Designer. This exciting new position is responsible for instructional design, planning and development of online and technology-facilitated courses for the college.
Responsibilities
*Provide consultation and assist faculty and subject matter experts (SMEs) in the development of online and technology-facilitated courses; present programs, conduct faculty training, and help the academic programs implement new technologies and approaches for online learning *Ensure that the developments of instructional materials for online courses are consistent with sound instructional design principles and standards *Consult with faculty on the effective use of instructional design strategies utilizing web-based resources, multimedia technologies, and instructional software and systems for online course development; collaborate with internal and external business partners that are critical to the success of the course such as faculty, technology/multimedia staff, Blackboard staff, and department academic support staff to assist with course development, implementation and problem resolution *Design and implement assessment methods (such as ePortfolios, surveys, inquiry-based tasks and assignments, problem-solving projects) to evaluate technology-based learning materials and to help evaluate learning tools to increase student engagement in online courses; research curriculum and pedagogical strategies *Serve as a member of a course development team, which may include subject-matter experts, faculty, project managers, multimedia specialist, course developers, etc. *Maintain a collaborative relationship and open communication with business partners *Research, evaluate and integrate new and emerging educational technologies for improving student learning within online courses
Minimum Requirements
*Master’s degree with one (1) year experience; -OR- Bachelor's with three (3) years’ experience *Degree must be Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Adult Learning, Curriculum and Instruction or other related field; experience must include online/blended course design, curriculum development, faculty development or other related area *Must be proficient in various technologies used in the instructional design and assessment process such as Learning Management Systems (Canvas) and include some knowledge of website design, Flash, Java Script, MS office suite, social media networking
