POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sr Designer works closely with the Sr Design Director to provide creative concept direction and design approvals to all license partners in the non-apparel category. Principal function is to collaborate with the Global Concept team and translate their seasonal big ideas to category specific direction decks, and provide inspiration to ensure commercial needs fit the company esthetics.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:

  • Create research and innovation for seasonal development in collaboration with Global Concept team for licensee categories Footwear, Bags, SLG’s, Belts, Soft Accessories, Eyewear, Jewelry and Watches. Create kick-off decks to be signed off by senior leadership before handing it off to partners.
  • Facilitate collaborative work sessions with license design teams to align and streamline seasonal development with in-house design.
  • Identify seasonal big ideas and products to be developed for own and operated.
  • Attend and participate in sketch and proto reviews.
  • Attend and participate in final edit, identify product to be used in marketing shoots and must buy assortments for O&O.
  • Design into special capsule collections and provide license with exact spec and design direction for the product strategy.
  • Work closely with cross-functional partners, Global Merch, Licensing ops, Licensing Business team and Marketing, for internal alignment.
  • Coordinate design reviews and sample shipments with Studio Coordinator.
  • Collaborate with Design Teams in Europe to align on seasonal direction for accessories and footwear.
  • Collaborate with Material Concept designer on seasonal material, color and trim direction for all partners.
  • Create seasonal concept and development presentations for senior management review.
  • Travel to tradeshows and inspirational shopping trips. 

Experience:      

  • 6-8 years of demonstrative experience in shoes & accessories business, in a design role.
  • Experience in Italy and China; understand quality from luxury materials and span to opposite end of the spectrum – knowledge of the requirements of each classification and price point.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of leather/fabric construction, shoes & accessories manufacturing/sourcing processes required.
  • Ability to communicate to senior management in a clear, precise, and effective manner.
  • Must demonstrate curiosity and is motivated to learn new skills and knowledge.

          

Education:

  • B.A. (or higher) in Design, Material Science, Textiles, or Product Development

Skills:                

  • Employ a strong project management skill set (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, closing) to handle multiple projects and objectives while maintaining flexibilities to changing priorities and demands.
  • Proficient in MS Office suites, Adobe Suite, Miro
  • Proficiency in Italian and Mandarin a plus
