ABOUT CECH

The College of Education, Criminal Justice, Human Services, with the School of Information Technology (CECH), at the University of Cincinnati, is dedicated to making a difference in our communities through outreach, academic programs, and community partnerships. Through its four academic schools and community-facing centers, CECH develops professionals to solve real-world problems. To support CECH's mission, the Office of Innovative Technology and Learning Design (OITLD) drives academic and research technology initiatives, delivers resources for a student-centered learning experience, and provides premier technical and design assistance.

JOB OVERVIEW

As a team member in the Office of Innovative Technology and Learning Design (OITLD) reporting to the Director of Learning Design, this person will provide technical support to assure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and lead the OITLD declared accommodations process in collaboration with UC's Accessibility Resources (AR). One must have strong communication skills as they will work with faculty and staff to ensure that the web and digital presence of university courses are compliant with state and federal regulations and that all audiences with disabilities can easily access course content and digital resources. Additionally, this position will develop and deliver accessibility trainings for CECH faculty and staff. In collaboration with OITLD directors, this position will develop accessibility policies and evaluate software for accessibility functionality.

 

This position has the potential for a hybrid work schedule in accordance with UC policies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

*Develop multimedia content including but not limited to video and audio production, field and studio recordings, web-conferencing recordings, web content development and the creation and integration of graphics, titles and animated sequences that will enhance the learning experience. *Collaborate with Accessibility Network, the Office of Institutional Accessibility and the Accessibility Resources offices on accessibility related issues and service provision. *Maintain compliance and up to date knowledge of WCAG 2.0, ADA, Section 504 and any other accessibility related state and federal laws. *Research, evaluate, and prepare recommendations for improvements on instructional delivery methods and technology implementation. *Manage and maintain an accurate inventory of equipment. Maintain archives of all media content and source material. *May work with the Instructional Design & Technology Support (IDTS) team to manage the IDTS studio.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

*Bachelor's Degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Information Science, or related field. *Six (6) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

*Two (2) years of experience in technology, education, accessibility, instructional technology, or closely related field. *Experience addressing issues related to accessibility compliance and applying federal policies (e.g., ADA, WCAG 2.0, Section 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act) in an academic setting. *Proficiency with audio-visual equipment, such as cameras, computers and recorders.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED

*Certificate in Instructional Design, Teaching & Learning, Media in Higher Education and/or E-Media. *Professional Web Accessibility and/or Trusted Tester certifications. *Ability to evaluate and remediate course content including multimedia and documents for accessibility. *Experience with teaching faculty to make course content accessible. *Experience with researching, evaluating, and testing software programs for accessibility functionality. *Fluency with screen readers, speech to text software, and other Assistive Technologies. *Hands-on experience supporting industry-leading assistive technologies such as Read & Write Gold, VoiceOver, Sonocent, ZoomText, Canvas, Kaltura, Cielo 24, Equidox, Ally in Canvas, etc. *Experience leading and creating accessibility training programs. *Web and digital accessibility certifications.
