office invites applicants for a

Graphic Designer

to artistically and creatively support Montana’s flagship public institution.

The Graphic designer will be responsible for designing and producing University of Montana branded collateral while maintaining the integrity and voice of the UM brand and visual identity.

The graphic designer will sit on the Creative Team within UM’s Brand Management and Communications Sector. Reporting to the Associate Director of Creative Services and the Director of Content and Creative Strategy, the Graphic Designer will create a diverse range of visual communications and support UM graphic designs in brand storytelling, consistency and creative content. These include:

Print publications including magazines, brochures and booklets.

Digital and print branding campaigns.

Social media.

Special events packages.

Other presentation materials and products to meet the University’s communications and marketing needs.

Because the individual assigned to this position will be in contact with various contacts across campus as well as off-site vendors, this position requires an ability to maintain strict confidentiality while handling sensitive information, tact, sensitivity, and professionalism. The position is imbedded with UM’s larger Marketing Communications and Brand Management sector. A high degree of working independently and quickly is expected for this position, as is the ability to be comfortable working within creative nuance in a rapidly paced working environment.

The position must be open to receiving creative feedback and pay strict attention to project management timelines and deadlines.

Required Skills

Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)

Excellent print and digital design skills

Proficient computer skills

Knowledge of the creative process in order to effectively gauge workloads and manage deadlines

Excellent organization and communication skills

Unwavering attention to detail and deadlines

Ability to multitask between small and large-scale projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented atmosphere

Ability to communicate ideas to colleagues and clients in an articulate, professional manner

Collaborative spirit and excellent people skills

Ability to take direction and work in a creative team environment, as well as work on projects independently

Minimum Required Experience

Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or a related field, as well as at least two (2) years of related work experience; or any combination of education and experience

Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 hr/wk),

Monday- Friday 8am to 5pm, 12 months/year

Salary: $22.113/hr

Probationary Period:
