Description
The Senior Learning Design Professional uses instructional design, cognitive psychology and adult learning theory to determine the appropriate solution to a knowledge or performance gap. The Senior Learning Design Professional work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of business outcomes or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors to determine root causes, formulate and implement business solutions.
Responsibilities
The Senior Learning Design Professional analyzes and organizes content in order to propose and design business solutions. Is responsible for developing, documenting and managing all training content development for the Member Services alignment. Tracks and analyzes the training programs effectiveness by examining learner's satisfaction levels, proficiency testing, and on the job performance improvement. Develops curriculum guides for all Member Services modules and business operational processes and leads implementation. Responsible for designing curriculum, instructional materials, learning resources, and retooling of training courses and modules from a traditional training to a virtual operational settings. Designs and oversees the complete development and implementation of learning resources in a variety of formats including but not limited to graphics, audio, video, and animation techniques to support our business' learning, facilitation and resource developmental needs. Leverage expertise in adult learning theory, instructional design and learning technologies to ensure learning objectives are achieved and regularly enhanced. Knows how to use collaborative tools to facilitate learning and increase associate engagement. Influences department's learning and developmental strategies. Collaborates with Member Services department leaders and other departments within the organization to understand the objectives, strategize and present an adequate approach, and update instructional resources as well as drive implementation. Works with department leadership to keep instructional programs up to date and create new content as needed. Identifies performance needs and learning gaps to determine curriculum development priorities and delivery solutions. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed with minimal to no direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments increasing the organization's overall performance, learners speed to proficiency and reducing patient and compliance risks.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in one of the following areas: Business Administration; Learning and Performance; Education; Human Resources, Healthcare Management, Organizational Design or Related field.
5 or more years of technical experience and/or instructional design experience
Prior experience working in a consumer centric company leading the learning function or related function
Prior demonstrated capability leading projects and developing and maintaining a dynamic and high performing team culture.
Progressive business and analytics experience with a focus on learning strategies and adult learning theories
Must be committed to contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving member and associate experiences
Prior work experience with design train and learning modules or materials to increase content conceptualization
Solid understanding of taxonomy of learning outcomes related to the domains of learning (Cognitive, Affective and Psychomotor).
Experience using a wide variety of instructional designing tools to effectively create and develop content to a wide audience.
Prior work experience using moderately complex to complex instructional design tools such as learning management systems, video editing software, storyline and coding platforms
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, communicating effectively with leaders, team members, learners and other associates in the organization.

Communicating training needs/gaps and potential business solutions
Communicating training needs and observed learning and/or behavioral concerns
Prior work experience working with the ADDIE model or similar instructional design models
Ability to work well independently and with a team.
Ability to travel.
Work At Home (WAH) - Please note this permanent position allows you to work at home indefinitely.
WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office (Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role). A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 10x1 (10mbs download x 1mbs upload) is required. A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in one of the following areas: Business Administration; Learning and Performance; Education; Human Resources, Healthcare Management, Organizational Design or Related field.
Instructional Design certification or equivalent
Work experience in a health care and/or corporate setting
Experience managing projects or processes.
Additional Information
Location:
This permanent job is working from Home.
Hours:
The hours are Mon-Fri, 8am-8pm EST, with flexibility outside of regular hours, including after hours and weekends in order to meet business and CMS required demands.
Training:
Initial training is a Total of 10 weeks (Combination of theory and practicum). Weekend or after hours training may occur based on CMS changes or Regulatory Compliance requirements.
Travel:
There is 25-30% travel required based on team seminars and development/strategy sessions frequency. Continued self-education and training will be required to succeed in this job.
No Vacation for the first 90 days of employment:
Due to training requirements,
no vacations
are permitted for the first 90 days of employment.

As a work at home (WAH) position, Humana will be deploying virtual and video technologies for all hiring activities.
