TITLE: SENIOR GRAPHIC DESIGNER - SOCIAL

REPORTS TO: ASSOCIATE ART DIRECTOR - SOCIAL

LOCATION: NEW YORK OFFICE

 

 

OVERVIEW:

J.Crew seeks a super-creative highly motivated Senior Designer who can enhance design for J.Crew's digital, and social channels - encompassing website, email, social and off-site marketing.

The candidate should be a fountain of ideas and possess the skill set to transform the best ideas into wireframes, social applications, and visual assets for a strong, succinct brand and customer experience.

We are looking for someone who is curious, thoughtful, has experience thinking about a project through holistically from all perspectives, and shows passion from small details all the way through to the larger scope. The candidate will have a strong rolodex of inspiration in the digital field as well as a complete understanding of all various social platforms, and current trends in the social media landscape. The candidate will join a team of Art Directors, Web developers, Designers, Content strategists and Writers of Brand Creative. A team player is a must with the ability to multitask, pivot quickly, and pre-plan projects whilst concluding others.

 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

 

PRODUCE a wide range of innovative, user-focused solutions that are multi-faceted and incorporate all the elements of a great experience whist conforming to style guidelines. Generating on-brand, engaging shop-able content for all J.Crew social platforms, and other various omni-channel touchpoints.

 

Take OWNERSHIP on projects including everything from concept to creation. Design and implement social media strategy to align with business goals. And explore unique creative solutions across a wide range of visual techniques including design, illustration, animation, gifs and photography.

 

COMMUNICATE all necessary information effectively with relevant members of the team throughout the production process, and suggest and implement new features to develop brand awareness.

 

USE sophisticated and charming typography with an understanding of its relevance, consistently thinking of ways to make this playful, and unique to the social platform experience. Bring a fresh graphic approach that speaks to the ethos of the brand.

 

Be AWARE of trends and new ideas within fashion, business and social, and be able to interpret those into fantastic creative.

 

ADAPT to and meet stringent deadlines, quickly managing changing priorities. Works well with various partners on the team, partnering with and understanding their unique POV.

 

ENHANCE user interfaces in collaboration with Art Directors, and create design systems and guidelines to insure continuity and brand cohesion across multiple platforms and touch points.

 

ENSURE that work is produced to a high quality, with a consistent clear design, adhering to the J.Crew brand aesthetic. Maintaining and elevating brand positioning with quality design standards.

 

DEVELOP and refine technical skills and stay abreast of any changes and developments in the social media landscape.

 

SUPPORT the Associate Art Director - Social, design colleagues and wider brand creative team.

 

INFLUENCE and guide a team of Designers and Juniors.

 

ABOUT YOU:

5+ years' experience in a high volume, deadline-driven environment: fashion and technology industry experience.

 

Proven depth of experience in design/social/digital represented by a portfolio of work.

 

Strong command of graphics, typography, layout, form and color.

 

Experience in motion graphics and animation, social and/or digital specific.

 

Great proficiency in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, After Effects and Invision.

 

Firm understanding of all relevant social media platforms, as well as current trends in the landscape.

 

Pro-active, ideas driven with bundles of initiative and follow through.

 

Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills, deadline driven.

 

Can-do disposition and a team player.
