Description
The Learning Design Professional 2 uses instructional design, cognitive psychology and adult learning theory to determine the appropriate solution to a knowledge or performance gap. The Learning Design Professional 2 work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination to identify root causes, formulate and implement business solutions.
Responsibilities
The Learning Design Professional 2 analyzes and organizes content, designs solutions, and assist in writing all training content development for the Member Services alignment. Partners with Senior Learning Design Professionals to analyze learning needs and provide input for course content, proposes and participates in developing business solutions. Writes effective learning objectives and coordinates performance assessments to measure training effectiveness for our training programs. Ensures course materials are current and relevant to training needs. Supports, maintains and completes all process and resource updates. Responsible for scheduling and performing maintenance reviews on all training modules and tools to ensure consistency with business and compliance requirements. Tracks, documents and analyzes all changes made to resources, as well as assessing training programs effectiveness by reviewing learner's engagement levels, proficiency testing, and job performance improvement. Develops basic online learning material and remote instructor led training courses. Designs and develops learning and conceptualization solutions for both new hire and existing associates to support role-based organizational needs. Knows how to use collaborative tools to facilitate learning. Meets established expectations and takes responsibility for achieving results. Employs focus, attention to detail, reliability, and appropriate prioritization to drive outcomes. Sees opportunities to contribute and takes the initiative to create solutions. Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments increasing the organization's overall performance, learners speed to proficiency and reducing patient and compliance risks.
Required Qualifications
Less than 5 years of technical experience and/or instructional design experience
Progressive business and analytics experience with a focus on learning strategies and adult learning theories
Must be committed to contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving member and associate experiences
Solid understanding of taxonomy of learning outcomes related to the domains of learning (Cognitive, Affective and Psychomotor).
Experience using a wide variety of instructional designing tools to effectively create and develop content to a wide audience.
Prior work experience with instructional design and learning modules or materials to increase content conceptualization.
Proficiency developing instructional content in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, Publisher, Visio.
Prior work experience working with the ADDIE model or similar instructional design models
Excellent communication skills, communicating effectively with leaders, team members, learners and other associates in the organization.
Building professional rapport

Communicating training needs/gaps and potential business solutions
Communicating training needs and observed learning and/or behavioral concerns
Ability to work well independently and with a team.
Ability to travel.
Work At Home (WAH) - Please note this permanent position allows you to work at home indefinitely.
WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office (Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role). A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 10x1 (10mbs download x 1mbs upload) is required. A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Degree in one of the following areas: Business Administration; Learning and Performance; Education; Human Resources, Organizational Design or Related field.
Instructional Design certification or equivalent
Work experience in a health care and/or corporate setting
Understanding of curriculum design and adult learning principles.
Additional Information
Location: This permanent job is working from Home. Hours: The hours are Mon-Fri, 8am-8pm EST, with flexibility outside of regular hours, including after hours and weekends in order to meet business and CMS required demands. Training: Initial training is a Total of 10 weeks (Combination of theory and practicum). Weekend or after hours training may occur based on CMS changes or Regulatory Compliance requirements. Travel: There is 25-30% travel required based on team seminars and development/strategy sessions frequency. Continued self-education and training will be required to succeed in this job. No Vacation for the first 90 days of employment: Due to training requirements, no vacations are permitted for the first 90 days of employment. Video Interviews: As part of our hiring process, we will be using an exciting interviewing technology provided by ModernHire, a third-party vendor. As a work at home (WAH) position, Humana will be deploying virtual and video technologies for all hiring activities.
