POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Senior Designer, Men’s Sweaters will execute and design sweater products based on global creative seasonal direction and business needs under the guidance of the Design Director.  The candidate will develop and produce sweaters as per product strategy for multiple businesses concept through bulk. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:

  • Leads the team in executing existing and all new company initiatives while implementing best practices
  • Exhibits flexibility to accommodate emerging opportunities in the business and areas of acceleration in the calendar
  • Identifies new approaches and trends that work within the brand strategy and can be translated into product in line with the seasonal concept 
  • Research and be familiar with current trend and marketplace trends as related to sweater category for creation of seasonal trend presentation
  • Portion of design work entails operational approach, executing re-engineered EU designs for the NA market in our Company Stores
  • Complete all aspects of design packages for each new garment, and manage post hand-off issues from Merchandising, Production, and overseas factories
  • Prepare initial tech pack with detail sketches, Approve all elements of product from concept through production
  • Input and maintain technical packages and sketches in PLM data base
  • Organize and maintain design development including artwork, trims, yarns and knit downs, protos and SRS
  • Attend garment fittings and lead process to approval with technical designers
  • Work with RM team to develop, review and approve all yarns and trims
  • Manage and adhere to Time In-Action Calendar
  • Designer must be open to a broad spectrum of tasks across product development and design
  • Technical sweater construction a must with strong knowledge of knit stitches and sweater yarns
  • Must be able to manage multiple businesses as well as support
  • Needs to be able to lead sweater product vision and create strong cross functional relationships
  • Collaborative approach needed for all conversations with Supply, Merchandising and Technical design

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Experience:           

  • 5+ years experience with men's wear with 1-2 years experience in a senior design role (or compatible position)        

Education:  

  • BA in Fashion Design
  • Strong experience with men’s sweaters, a must
  • Experience in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop CS, MS Excel, PLM, 3D design experience a plus
  • Experience working with overseas factories, agents and fabric and trim vendors
  • Advanced sweater stitches and technique experience
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to work cross functionally, building strong relationships between various departments
  • Strong eye for trends and current industry news/developments
  • Ability to work longer hours, if needed, due to timelines and deliverables
  • Ability to travel, if needed, both domestically and internationally
  • Able to time manage responsibilities and be able to address tasks without direction, as needed
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects with adherence to deadlines
  • Detail oriented and resourceful traits necessary
  • Must be able to find best solutions and developing methods to improve efficiency
  • Must be flexible to adapt to changing trends of business and corporate strategy
  • Ability to work in fluid environment with changing priorities required
